The World Bank, early November, approved a USD 150 million grant for funding of a new project in Yemen. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in cooperation with PWP, Road Maintenance Fund, and the Urban Water Projects Management Unit will implement the project.
The director of PWP, Eng. Saeed Abdo Ahmed said that the PMU will discuss with UNOPS implementation plans for the project and projects to be implemented by PWP next week in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
He confirmed that the international institutions (the funding agency) selected the target areas and identified the subprojects to be implemented. PWP's role will be confined to implementation of the subprojects.
The new project aims at restoring basic services in some of the Yemeni cities hard hit by the current situation.
