The Public Works Project, PWP, signed last Monday in Sana'a an agreement to finance the first phase of the Integrated Urban Service Project with the United Nations Office for Project Services, UNOPS. The project is estimated to cost US$10 million and the funding will be channeled through the UNDP.
The project will aim at restoring basic services in major Yemeni cities hardest-hit by the current situation in the country. This will be accomplished through the implementation of a number of subprojects in street pavements, improvements and sanitation sectors in cities like Sana'a, Aden and Hodeidah.
Target areas have been selected by the World Bank which also identified the type of subprojects needed. PWP will be responsible for the implementation of the subprojects in the target areas.
