The Public Works Project (PWP) has succeeded in leaving a positive and tangible impact in the local communities, especially IDPs, communities most impacted by the current situations, and destitute families who are unable to make a living.
According to data produced by PWP, 816 thousand workdays have been created by December 2017. 1.5 million people benefitted from community assets built by the Project, 51% of are women.
The increase in the number of beneficiaries from community assets is attributed to the increased number of subprojects implemented. It is estimated that the increase was 2.5 times the target, and is mostly due to the selection of schools in urban areas, which can accommodate large numbers of students. Road pavement projects that have been chosen serve highly populated areas, as well. Likewise, the water subprojects that have been implemented complement large-scale water projects that serve quite a large number of beneficiaries.
