From Various Governorates of the Country: The Public Works Project Trains 200 Engineers, Workers and Specialists in Chlorine Production.

The Public Works Project in partnership with the International Red Cross implemented recently a series of training sessions on production of liquid chlorine from food salt. 200 trainees participated in the training sessions, who include engineers, workers and specialists working in the water sector.

The two-month long training sessions targeted staff of water projects throughout the country. The trainees were trained on utilizing liquid chlorine production units to produce chlorine from food salt using WATA- Plus and WATA- standards, conduct purification operations and how to calculate the needed doses for water purification.

Participants were given theoretical background information and hands-on demonstrations to train them on skills that enable them to optimize operations of the liquid chlorine units, formulation of doses for water purification based on water volume, how to conduct periodic maintenance of the system, capability to measure remaining chlorine in water storage tanks and distribution system, measures for contingencies, and exercises to familiarize the participants with the WATA liquid chlorine production units.
