The Public Works Project is now restoring historic homes in the Old City of Sana’a and doing conservation work by engaging residents in the project under the “cash for work” scheme.
The restoration activities are being financed by UNESCO (Heritage Emergency Fund), and is being carried out in collaboration with The Public Authority for the Preservation of Historic Cities.
The intervention targets homes most impacted by the heavy rainfall in some of the quarters of the Old City, such as Qubat al-Mahdi located along the banks of al-Saylah.
