Tens of families in the historic city of Zabid now feel at ease after facing constant threats of displacement and potential death in their homes, which were on the verge of collapse. The homes were so dilapidated due to years of neglect and disrepair.
As part of the Cash-for-Work Program for Youth in Urban Centers, PWP restored 20 homes using funds provided by the European Union in partnership with UNESCO. The Program covers historic cities in Sana’a, Shibam-Hadramaut, Zabid and Aden.
During the handover of the homes to their owners, beneficiaries confirmed that many of the families see this as a life-saving action as they had been under constant threat posed by the houses would, which were on the verge of collapse over their heads at any moment.
