PWP has a organized a week-long training session on supervision, follow up, occupational health and safety, and monitoring for over 60 PWP staff members.
During the inaugural session of the training, Eng. Saeed Abdo Ahmed, the project director, stressed that the life of a worker and protection of lives during implementation is top priority for PWP’s PMU. Representatives from funding organizations attended the session.
He explained that PWP has been successful in the creation of short-term work opportunities, provision of select basic services, and improving the food security situation for the poorest and most vulnerable groups who have been severely impacted by the current situation.
“The project has also succeeded in supporting the international community’ effort to support livelihoods for a decent life and provision of essential services for the Yemeni people”, he said. “It also contributes to the improvement of household capacities and the communities to improve their livelihoods and assists local communities hosting IDPs to cope with increasing pressure on scarce local resources”, he added. In addition, PWP has also contributed to supporting the local economies through development of local communities, support for private sector contractors and training and qualification of consultant engineers to provide consultancy services.
The training is being provided by specialists in PWP, UNDP, UNOPs as well as from other donor organizations.
