Owing to its success in implementation of the (YECRP), the wb, which financed the project through UNDP, once again selected the PWP to partner in the implementation of the new Yemen integrated urban services project (yiusEp).
The wb allocated an amount of US$150 million through UNOPS to finance the yiusp activities for three years ending on December 2020. The main project objective is to restore community assets and critical urban infrastructure in a number of cities preselected by the wb.
The project, which will be implemented by a number of partners, include subprojects in urban roads and transport, urban water supply and sanitation, and energy. Municipal services subprojects are to be implemented by the PWP.
Indicators
The PWP, as it has been the norm, will exercise keenness to optimize benefits from the funding and will work to provide basic services critically needed in the day-to-day lives of the target communities and contribute to decent livelihoods.
In phase i of the yiusp, the PWP has signed contracts for the implementation of 31 subprojects in the two cities of sana’a and aden, at a cost of US$ 4.6 Million, benefitting 230,000 people, 7 in the sanitation sector that have generated 29,000 work/day.
