Efficiency of the public works project

Following the World Bank’s resumption of activities in Yemen through IDA late 2016 by supporting the implementation of the Humanitarian Crisis Emergency Response Project (YECRP) to date, the World Bank has regularly chosen PWP as one of the key local partners to implement these activities. The choice was driven by PWP’s efficiency and ability to work under all circumstances, ability to achieve objectives set for each of the funding, abiding by the terms and conditions of the agreement without any deviations.

Resilience and Social Protection Project.

In March 2021, PWP received a new grant from the World Bank (IDA) through a partnership with UNDP worth $15.7 million for the implementation of 182 projects under the Social Protection Program. This new funding was subject to the same terms and conditions governing the Yemen Emergency Crises Response Project (YECRP), while taking into account updated standards by the funding agency.
The current ECRP aims to realize social protection against diseases and epidemics including COVID-19. It also aims to promote decent livelihoods, creation of short-term employment opportunities, provide selected basic services to the most vulnerable, improve nutrition and food security, contribute to supporting the efforts by the international community to provide improve basic livelihoods and services for the population, who are bearing the brunt of the current crisis, as well as to contribute to improving the resilience of households and communities, and help IDP’s host communities to cope with economic and social pressures on already scarce local resources.
