Al-Anwar schools for basic and secondary education in Al-Rama area , Al-Kabeta directorate , Lahj, has turned by the current crisis in the country into a center for the sheltering of dozens of displaced families from areas adjacent to Al-Rama area, which received 546 displaced people, adding to the 4404 indigenous population of the area, mostly relying on agriculture, cutting and selling firewood as a main source of income.
A necessary priority for the people
The Public Works Project Management Unit, through field trips, seating and listening to people and studying the needs of the area, it was found that the rehabilitation of Al-Rima School is the priority of the school as the only school in the area and the surrounding villages. It has been over 30 years old since its construction. The students' suffering become more as the school was turned into a sheltering center of the displaced, which made the classrooms and other facilities out of educational service.
Multiple benefits
The rehabilitation of Al-Anwar School in Al-Rama area by the Public Works Project has achieved several benefits. The most important of these benefits is the school building that motivates parents to educate their children and employ a number of workers, especially those who have lost their source of income due to the current crisis.
Mohammed Hussein Saeed , 46 year old a family head which consists of six persons who spent half of his age working in bakeries in Al-Hawta city, the current crisis has deprived him of his only source of income and forced him to return with his family to Al-Rama area without job (source that provides a loaf of bread for). Al-Rama is an area where most people are dependent on traditional agriculture and the sale of firewood as a source of income.
Mohammed Saeed, one of the workers in the rehabilitation project of Al-Rama School describes the 30 days of working as miracles, especially in light of the current situation.
He confirms that the wages he received for his work in the transport of the remnants of the restoration and other materials (Nice - Cree) enabled him to provide food for his family for several weeks, his work in the cutting and sale of firewood was not feasible.
School building
Al-Anwar School has 455 male and female students which is the only school in the area of Al-Rama and neighboring villages . Its buildings are very old, the classrooms are broken, windows and other facilities are out of service. They have not been servicing since its inception 30 years ago, as the school principal, the situation become more deteriorated when the school has changed into a shelter.
The intervention of Public Works Project, rehabilitation of the school and made it a stimulating school for parents to urge their children to continue education.
"The rehabilitation of health facilities has had a positive impact on female students, especially those in adulthood," Qahtan said.
He stressed that the rehabilitation of the school by the Public Works Project left a good impact in the hearts of parents and students and was a good choice due to the significance of the school in the region.
