To strengthen the principal of transparency and community participation, as a key strategy to improve performance, pwp’s implementation unit has pursued an active strategy to strengthen its relations with beneficiaries and all segments of society, especially women, the marginalized and the poor. Pwp interacts positively with the opinions and complaints it receives. It has been working continuously to develop a mechanism for communication and for addressing complaints in an interactive manner.
Development is the main objective pursued by pwp management in the ground and in all governorates of the republic of yemen. In doing so, pwp is racing with time to overcome obstacles and challenges imposed by the current crises. This pursuit has proven that pwp is truly in the service of development.
Success of the pwp in accomplishing the objectives of the original funding for the yecrp, which is financed by the world bank through the undp, has created an incentive for the world bank to provide additional funding for the project. The signing . ...
The public works project together with the united national development programme, undp, signed last march the project document for the yemen emergency response project, yecrp. The project has received a $70 million funding from the world bank and will be implemented within a period of 24 months.
Yecrp aims at alleviating the impact of the current crises on households and local communities and assist them in the recovery process. This would be done by utilizing local systems and institutional capacities for the gradual restoration of service provision. The project will also contribute to the creation of employment opportunities and short term livelihoods, as well as revitalization of the local private sector. Additionally, the project will restore basic service delivery by supporting infrastructure and improvement of income generation and livelihoods, including for idp’s, the restoration of basic social services and revival of sme’s.
The project is expected to enable yemeni households and local communities to better cope with the worsening living conditions and will be an effective mechanism for capacity building, resilience and recovery.
The ECRP is funded by the World Bank as a grant to Yemen while the UNDP is the Administrator. The Agreement was signed with the UNDP for an amount of USD 50 million of which USD 15 million allocated for the PWP and USD 35 million for the Social Fund for Development to be implemented within 24 months.
Under the slogan “for more successes and achievements “, PWP management has organized an annual counseling meeting for its employees and staff at the headquarters and governorates during a period of 21-22 June , 2014 for the purpose of reviewing its activities during a full year and to evaluate the level of implementation of works plan and to be aware of the positive aspects to strengthen them and avoiding the negative aspects , if exist and to discuss the report of auditing and accounting.
During last May, the Vice President of the World Bank, McGrath Sean has visited Al-Zuhrawe Medical Center which was funded and developed by PWP where he listened from PWP Engineer/ Saeed Abdo Ahmed and those running the Center to the project phases whether during the construction phase, the expansion or the supplies phases.
Last February 2011, the World Bank expert, Mr. Mario Antonio Zelaya, paid a two-day visit to a number of PWP implemented projects in the sectors of health, education, and stone pavement in Sana’a City and the governorates of Sana’a and Amran.
